Oriane Zerah is a freelance photographer represented by WostokPress agency. She was born in Paris, and studied Dramatic Art and Dance. She then worked for a few years in a French Polish troupe before joining the Théâtre du Soleil (1999-2001).For ten years she divided her time between India and its surrounding countries and France.
These images caught my attention, as they show the true obsession and love of hair that people have. It suggests that teenage girls use hair to feel a sense of security.
Oriane Zerahs photographs are high in contrast to ensure that the different colours in the hair are exaggerated and come out in the image.
I want to show in my response how people care for their hair obsessively.
response:
This is one of my favourite images, as it shows the detail of each strand of hair, whilst focussing on the fact that the model is grooming and obsessing over her hair. I like the contrast of the dark bristles on the brush and the lightness of the golden hair.
This photo shows the awe in her eyes as she obsesses over and touches her hair as if she is in love with it.
my final, edited response images:
In the above two images, I have increased the contrast to make the hair look more appealing and shiny, and also shows the different colours within the hair. The composition of this image has been done by putting the subject matter in the centre. With it being close up, it allows you to fully focus on the hair.
The texture of the hair is shiny, as the light reflects off it, which draws you into the image.
This image represents how hair makes people feel.
To some it is their security, to others it is their identity.
Hair has a high importance in peoples lives and this image portrays this fact, as it looks as if people are fighting for their hair. It also shows that people can often desire every other type of hair but theirs. People with curly hair want straight hair, and vice versa. In todays society, everybody seems to want to look like someone else. But hair in itself can be an idol.
In this image I used Photoshop to overlay images I took in this shoot. The composition shows hands coming into the shot from different angles all around the image. The layers of hair make the texture feel dry.
